Zermatt is a beautiful southern Switzerland alpine area. Spectacularly situated beneath the majestic Matterhorn, Zermatt has everything to offer in the way of fantastic skiing and picturesque surroundings. On arrival, by train from the village of Täsch, you will find the vibrant village centre entirely car-free and streets packed with beautiful shops and boutiques.
How to get to Zermatt
Zermatt is a car-free resort. Access for private transport is only allowed as far as Täsch (5km from Zermatt). The road from Täsch to Zermatt is not open to public transport. There are open-air car parks (900 spaces) and covered car parks (2,900 spaces; 2,000 of it at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch) in Täsch. Some covered car parks also have outside parking spaces and operate a taxi service to and from Zermatt. Shuttle trains operated by the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway run every 20 minutes
There are direct train connections in Brig and Visp to the modern narrow-gauge Matterhorn Gotthard railway, which arrives in Zermatt after a 90-minute journey through the romantic, rugged Vispa Valley.
